It’s never too soon to start planning your summer holiday, and what better place to escape the stresses of work and everyday life than the glorious Cornish coast? We’ve narrowed down our favourite things to see and do in St Ives to help get you started with your holiday planning.
Why Tregenna Castle?
Nestled by the seaside, our castle has been a home from home for travellers for more than 240 years. Whether you’re joining us for a family holiday or treating someone special to a romantic getaway, you can rest assured that we know what it takes to make your stay memorable. Plus this local summer school holidays, we’ve got some in-house vouchers for you to spend at Tregenna and great kids activities for all of our younger guests too!
Exploring St Ives
Now, of course, there are beautiful beaches just a stone’s throw from our front door, what else would you expect when heading to Cornwall? But that’s not all there is to discover during your stay. From cobbled streets to boutique shops, there’s so much waiting for you beyond the beach.
Where adventure begins
Based on the stunning Porthmeor Beach, St Ives Surf School is regarded as of one the best places for learning to surf in Cornwall and is ideal for thrill-seekers looking to enhance their skills, or beginners keen to master the waves. If you’d rather stay on land, there are many coastal paths to choose from, and all of them are perfect for spending a couple of hours trekking across the beautifully rugged landscape.
Wine and dine
Treat yourself to a tipple, or two, with Tarquin’s gin tasting. Relax and unwind as you savour the mouth-wateringly tempting botanical flavours of this quintessential Cornish delight.
Should you then find yourself feeling peckish, a traditional Cornish pasty by the harbourfront is just the thing. If you fancy something a little heartier, retreat back to the resort and enjoy some delicious, locally sourced food at Godrevy View Restaurant or a cocktail at Olives Bar.
Perfect for little ones
We’ve worked our magic to make sure there’s something to keep everyone entertained, no matter how big or small. Playtime is guaranteed to be a hit with our kids activities, and our arts and crafts sessions are ideal for creating those precious holiday souvenirs.
We know it’s important to roam outside and enjoy some fresh air, which is why we would highly recommend learning about great Cornish Myths and legends at our Tree People Trail Woodland Walk or spending a few hours exploring salty rock pools and hunting for seashells. Although, it’s probably best to have a prize at the ready for whoever finds the quirkiest shell.
Culture awaits
From giants to mermaids, Cornwall is certainly well known for its fantastic myths and legends. A visit to St Michael’s Mount is a must, and be sure to keep an eye out for the Giant’s heart as you make your way up the stone pathway. If a slightly more contemporary cultural experience is more your thing, head on over to Tate St Ives and discover modern works of art while overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
