The Bolitho The Bolitho family bought Tregenna from the Stephens family in 1871.

The Great Western The Great Western Railway officially leased Tregenna as a destination hotel from the Bolitho's in 1878 and bought the hotel in 1895.

Nestled within our expansive 72-acre resort are now four hives, home to thousands of honey bees. We’re thrilled to bolster our sustainability efforts, which will benefit the environment, the local community (once honey production begins), and the resort itself. Bees play a crucial role in maintaining biodiversity. As pollinators, they are responsible for the reproduction of many plant species, which in turn supports a wide range of wildlife. By hosting beehives, Tregenna Castle Resort contributes to the health of local ecosystems. The presence of bees ensures the proliferation of native flowers and plants, fostering a rich and diverse habitat for other insects, birds, and small mammals.
