In June 2021 our resort was transformed for the G7 Summit! It was an incredible honour to host and accommodate the world leaders in our beautiful part of the world.
A personal ‘meet the team’ visit from our Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and the ‘off duty’ President Joe Biden and Dr Biden enjoying drinks and food on our terrace were real highlights!
The Tregenna team had the privilege to meet so many wonderful people from all parts of the world, from the event organisers, delegation, secret service to the police officers who came from all parts of the country to keep us safe. The police were always smiling, courteous and simply a pleasure to talk to and their positive attitude never wavered despite the heat on certain days and long hours.
Our 18-hole golf course also became a helipad for some seriously special aircraft. The immense power of the downwash of the helicopter blades of Marine One, VH-3D Sea king and President Biden’s three V22 Osprey convoys were truly spectacular, and we’ve had to replace a lot of sand in the golf bunkers since!
It was only because of everyone working together so well that the event was such a huge success. Watching our colleagues work so hard has been awe-inspiring and we will remember it as a once in a lifetime experience that we will never forget in all the right ways!
