3G Holidays: How to enjoy your Cornish escape with the whole family
It’s becoming more and more common for families to enjoy ‘3G holidays’ – where three generations of the family are invited along. So how exactly do you keep yourself, the kids, and the grandparents entertained?
At Tregenna Castle we know a thing or two about what makes a good family holiday. To help you start planning your very own 3G holiday we’ve put together some of our favourite family-friendly activities and destinations. After all, it’s never too soon to start planning your next escape to the Cornish coast.
Whether you fancy meeting the penguins or are simply keen to speak to a parrot, there’s plenty to do at Paradise Park, a wildlife sanctuary located in Hayle. Home to more than 650 birds and animals, including Caribbean Flamingos, Red Pandas, and Otters. The JungleBarn indoor play centre is the perfect place to keep little ones entertained, whilst the cafe is perfect for grandparents to relax and savour a slice of cake.
One of Cornwall’s best-known destinations, St Michael’s Mount was once the home of a giant, at least according to local legend. The island upon which the castle and sub-tropical gardens are perched can easily be reached by a short boat ride, or by simply crossing the causeway during low tide. During the school holidays, popular activities include rock pooling, treasure quest and I spy trails in the village and garden.
There’s nothing we enjoy more on a warm summer’s day than heading down to Porthmeor Beach, grabbing an ice cream, and soaking up the fresh sea air. As a Blue Flag award-winning beach, it’s no surprise that it’s a popular destination with surfers and swimmers alike. For a truly relaxing experience, we recommend packing up a picnic and spending a day lounging on the soft golden sand.
With an extensive selection of rides to choose from, including exhilarating rollercoasters and the ever-popular log flume, Flambards is the perfect choice for a fun-filled day out for the whole family. If you, or the grandparents, fancy a slightly more tame experience, then we would recommend exploring the Victorian Village.
The perfect choice for a fun-filled day, Lappa Valley Steam Railway is a popular destination with families. Enjoy a picturesque ride on the Newlyn Branch Line railway, play a round of crazy golf, or make the most of the beautiful surroundings on the family-friendly canoe boating lake. Oh, and we would definitely recommend a visit to the Ice Cream Express, where they serve delicious Cornish ice cream.
