Recycle and Charity Initiative
Another £600 raised for charity
Chris from our maintenance team has been making a difference again this year!
With the main summer holiday season behind us, St Ives over the course of spring and summer always sees lots of surfboards, wind breaks, and other beach items being left behind by visitors after they leave. Instead of these items being binned, we've encouraged guests who don't want to take these items home with them to give these items a new life at a local caravan park.
Chris found that everything from buckets and spades to boogie boards was showing up at the maintenance office - the majority of which was kindly donated by guests before heading home. To help encourage more reusing and recycling, and cut down the amount of plastic pollution on Cornwall’s beaches, he decided to donate the items to the nearby caravan park at Godrevy where they could be hired by guests for a small donation to charity.
The response from those staying at the caravan club has been overwhelming, with lots of people also eager to not only minimise their environmental footprint but give something back to the local community. As a result, over the last few months, the team has raised £600 for the Cornwall Air Ambulance, a total of over £1000 since this initiative began!
Great work, Chris!
